Astro a50 pc11/21/2023 The battery life is good, nothing to say. Dolby on Windows will flatten the sound balance, and therefore lose the virtualisation. A very important aspect that is not specified in the manual is that virtualisation must be activated in the headset's Windows sound settings and the headset's Dolby must be deactivated (to be activated for use on PS4/5). A passage by the equalizer of the software will know to return all that more flattering. The sound is quite neutral, but not unpleasant. The headset can be used straight out of the box without any special configuration. I love the fabric type pads, more durable over time than a leatherette that will quickly crumble over time. The headset itself looks solid, well built and very comfortable. I'm not a fan of the Microsoft Store, a bit old fashioned on that side I prefer to have an old fashioned executable. Simple installation, software and drivers directly and only from the Microsoft Store. Hell, they even show up as slightly different programs in the program list, Astro Command Center which doesn't work and ASTRO Command Center which does work.Expensive, but in the top tier of helmets but nope, separate stuff with busted downloads. I had to randomly find the support option after almost submitting a ticket >_> You would think those pages would be the same damn thing. has the ACC for windows download option along with Mac but this has the odd link to the Microsoft Store for the version that doesn't seem to work. Nevermind, it seems I had to jump through extra hoops. And, since I'm not on a Mac, I don't think that download would help me in any way lol. No direct download option is on that page, other than the Mac version. It just has the link to the Microsoft Store. I am curious what you mean about downloading it through their software section. I hold nothing against that individual, but I do think Astro has to do a better job as a company in maintaining their web pages and having better access to training tech support that knows where the site resources are. I reached out to support and was told this was a mistake on their web page but that they were not the ones that design/fix the webpage. Curiously, the x box and playstation versions both work with pc/mac, which makes it strange that there is a pc/mac version listed. Another example of weird website design is that when you go to buy the headset, there are 3 options - pc/mac, playstation, and x box. I will say though that I am disappointed that there is so little info about this online, even from Astro support forums and their tech support number did not have the info either, nice though they were. Unfortunately, this was not something that tech support was aware of. This version worked perfectly and I am no longer having any issues. The way you get to it is by going to the Astro website, and instead of hovering over support and clicking software, just click the header "support." This will bring you directly to the windows download version that comes directly from the Astro site. There is another version of the Astro Command Center that is not downloaded from the windows store. Astro is not great at designing their website or training tech support.
